A Few University of Pittsburgh Football Greats

Mike Ditka (1958-1960)

Mike Ditka is a well known commodity in the football scene. Ditka grew up not far from his college alma mater. He didn't have far to travel to get to his college destination. The Pittsburgh campus was only about 20 miles away. He was recruited by 3 schools coming out of high school. The other two schools were Notre Dame & Penn State.

He played tight end(TE) all 3 of his seasons spent at Pitt. Not only did he play tight end, he was also the team's punter. He is considered to be one of the greatest tight ends to play college football. He was voted to the College Football All-America Team for his senior season. He is also voted into the College Football Hall of Fame.

After leaving college Ditka went on to have a stellar NFL playing & coaching career. He played for the Bears, Eagles, & Cowboys. He was a 5 time Pro Bowl selection. 3 time Super Bowl champion. He was the very first tight end ever inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His success didn't stop at playing. He was head coach of both the Chicago Bears & New Orleans Saints.

He led the Chicago Bears to the Super Bowl XX championship. This victory was highlighted around the world with a "Super Bowl Shuffle" video & song that featured Ditka in it. As a head coach, he was known for his antics during post-game press conferences. He often would lose his cool & lash out out at the media. Ditka currently works for ESPN as a football analyst.

Tony Dorsett (1973-1976)

Tony Dorsett was one of the finest running backs to ever play college football. He led Pittsburgh to a nation title in 1976. During this season Dorsett picked up numerous awards. He won the Heisman. He won the Maxwell Award given to the best college football player in America. He also won the the Walter Camp Award for college football Player of the Year.

He led the nation in rushing in 1976. His total was a whopping 1948 yards. He was first team All-American 3 out of 4 seasons at Pitt. He finished on the 2nd team All-America squad his other season. Dorsett ranks #2 all-time in college football for rushing yards trailing only Ricky Williams.

He had two games to well remember in college. Both games were against the mighty Irish. He rushed for 303 yards in 1975 & he totaled 290 rushing yards in 1976. People even said that Notre Dame let the field grass grow high to try & help slow this great running back down.

Dorsett went on to have a great NFL career as well. He played 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys & one with the Denver Broncos. He holds honors as being the only player to ever win a college national title one year & a Super Bowl championship the next. He helped lead the Cowboys to Super Bowl XXII win. During that Super Bowl winning season Dorsett was voted Rookie of the Year in the NFL. He has been voted into both the College Football & Pro Football Hall of Fame. Both were done in 1994.

Dan Marino (1979-1982)

Probably the greatest QB in Pitt history & quite possibly in NFL history. Dan Marino played college football for the very program that he grew up around. It's not often you see a guy playing for his hometown in college.

He had a great college career but his Heisman & national championship hype going into his senior season failed. Marino was the favorite for the Heisman heading into his senior campaign but it didn't work out for him. Pitt lost to SMU in the 1983 Cotton Bowl with the "Pony Express" by his side. This was in reference to players Eric Dickerson & Craig James.

Due to his subpar senior season, Marino wasn't drafted as high as expected. There were 5 other QB's drafted before him in the 1983 NFL Draft. Well, The teams that passed on him wished they hadn't. Miami was the team that picked him & the rest is literally "history".

He spent his entire NFL career in Miami. Playing 17 seasons in the NFL & setting numerous passing records. He was voted NFL MVP in 1984. He was a 9-time Pro Bowl selection. He never won a Super Bowl title though with the Dolphins. His jersey number has been officially retired by Miami. He was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2005, he was voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot.

The Origins of American Football

During the early 1800's a popular game known as rugby, where a football is kicked at a goal and run over a line, had its beginnings at the famous Rugby Boy's School in England. Around the same time in America, the emergence of a game called "ballown," similar to Rugby, was played by a group of students from Princeton. East coast prep schools like Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Rutgers College also competed in football-type games. At that time these early games resembled the more traditional "mob football" style played in England. The rules were simple with large numbers of players trying to advance the ball into a goal area usually by any means necessary. By 1855 manufactured inflatable balls were being used as football evolved into a kicking and running game.

Since there weren't many rules established, violence and injury were common due to the roughness of the game. The increasing brutality of the game became such a public concern because of so many injuries and deaths, that some universities banned it. President Theodore Roosevelt even threatened to ban the game and urged Harvard, Princeton, and Yale to help make changes or lose the sport. Eventually the Intercollegiate Football Association was formed by representatives of Harvard, Columbia, and Princeton to establish a new code of rules mainly based on the rugby games.

The man responsible for shaping American football as we know it today was Walter Camp. He enrolled at Yale in 1876 and led the IFA's rules committee. He proposed reducing the number of players from 15 to 11. He helped establish the line of scrimmage and the snap from center to quarterback. Camp also proposed that teams be required to advance the ball a minimum of five yards within three downs. More changes were instituted like the reduced size of the playing field, scoring rules, and game time. By 1887 a paid referee and an umpire were mandated for each game and tackling below the waist was allowed. In 1889 officials were given whistles and stopwatches. The forward pass, one of the most important changes in the game, didn't become legal until 1906.

Although the rules were changing, football continued to be played violently in the style of the earlier mob games. Changes had to be made to make the game safer. These changes were discussed on December 28, 1905 by sixty-two schools who met in New York City. Eventually the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) was formed as a result. Over a century later college football continues to thrive as one of the most popular collegiate games. After the demise of the IFA, the American Professional Football Association was formed in 1920. The association was later reorganized and in 1922 renamed the National Football League.

Green Bay Packers History

Green Bay Packers history is more extensive than most NFL teams. Packers fans are proud to know that their team is the third-oldest NFL franchise, established in 1919. They are now a part of the NFC North Division of the NFL, even though they started out as an independent football team and didn't join the NFL until 1921. Throughout Green Bay Packers history, they had many division changes, Packers started in the National Conference, then moved to the Western Conference in 1953, and then were divided into the Central Division of the Western Conference (confused yet) until 1969 when the AFL-NFL merger changed the leagues and made them a member of the NFC Central. Finally, in 2002, they were sent to the North Division as a part of the NFL changing teams around and re-doing divisions.
A unique aspect of the Green Bay Packers history is how the team ownership was structured. Packers are the only community owned, non-profit NFL team. They're also the only non-profit team of their kind in the world of professional sports across the United States. Green Bay Packers history began with their founding owners, Earl Lambeau and George Whitney Calhoun, who were once high school rivals. Lambeau was given $500 for uniforms and equipment, and the team was to be named for the Indian Packing Company, who gave him the money to fund his team. Combining Green Bay with the Packing company, hence the name Green Bay Packers was born; this is an interesting aspect of Packers history considering it the oldest team name that is still being used.
In 1920, the Packers joined the new national pro football league, which survived only a year due to their financial problems. The next year, Lambeau acquired new funding, and the Green Bay Football Corporation was formed. The Packers immediately became a force to be reckoned with in professional football. A significant accomplishment in Green Bay Packers history is their 12 league championship wins, which is the most in NFL franchise history by any one team. Three of those championships are credited as Super Bowls. Making the NFL records book, the Green Bay Packers history includes three straight NFL titles, which they accomplished twice, in 1929, 1930, and 1931, and again in 1965, 1966, and 1967.
In the 1960s, Vince Lombardi accepted the coaching position and the team won five league championships during his era. In 1968, Lombardi became the General Manager, and Phil Bengtson was chosen as the next head coach. Lombardi then left Green Bay in 1969, became head coach of the Redskins, and then died in 1970. The Super Bowl trophy was named after Vince Lombardi and the road that goes by Lambeau Field in Green Bay was named after him to honor this legendary man. They had five winning seasons between 1968 and 1991, and appeared in the playoffs twice. They had five different head coaches and many changes in their roster, which may have been attributed to the lack of structure and poor drafting choices.
In 1992, the arrival of Brett Favre brought Green Bay Packers history into a new era. Brett Favre's numerous victories and triumphs, helped boost the sales of Packers tickets, memorabilia and merchandise. Favre started 271 consecutive games for the Packers, an NFL record that the Packers can add to their laundry list of accomplishments. After picking up Reggie White for defense, the team took off again. They have had several winning seasons, played in a numerous championship games and eventually made it to Super Bowl XXXI. They returned to Super Bowl XXXII, but ended up losing to John Elway and his Denver Broncos in a close game.
The Packers made history once again in the 2007 season, appearing in the NFC Championship game for the first time in 10 years. The sales of Packers memorabilia soared and especially those items related to their Super Bowl run. In addition, anything that Brett Favre contributed to, including Packers autographed items, was extremely popular among fans of all ages. One of the biggest controversy's in Green Bay Packers history unfolded in 2008, when Brett Favre retired, and then requested to be reinstated in that same year. His reinstatement was granted, but was then traded to the New York Jets. That season, the Packers came out with a 6-10 record, but despite those struggles, team supporters are still considered as some of the most loyal fans in the league.

NCAA Football 2011

EA Sports has long been a leader in the sports video game market and NCAA College Football 2011 is no different. It certainly has a version upgrade over last year and is a must if you enjoy College Football. We'll discuss some of the new features and why we think that is one of the best games on the market.

NCAA 2011 has some great new features such as blocking the lineman and tight ends. If you have good lineman and your numbers to that side of the field than most of the time you will be able to run that side pretty easily. I really like when your guards are on a roll out or pull against, and they kick out there guy pretty easily and create a huge hole for the running back.

Another nice feature in College Football 2011 is the recipients, and how to handle them yourself. In the past it would the recipients not hardly challenge for the ball. In this game of the year they will go and get the ball and the fight with the Defender a game. Its really nice to have this option when you for a first down or close to the end zone you are going to be dependent on your recipients can actually be a bit more.

These are just some of the striking features of NCAA Football 2011 making it a great College Football game. The overall Gameplay is awesome and this extra features make it truly a must have. Check out our websites PlayStation 3 below for more help and reviews.

2. Penn State Nittany Lions

We are familiar with mountain Lions, but what is the meaning of the Penn State nittany "Lions? It all started with a Penn State graduate named H.D. (Joe) Mason.

A little football history for your party

Football historical facts are fun to use on a Super Bowl or football theme party. Take notes and make funny trivia games of the following information.

NFL Football is one of the most popular American sports, attracting thousands of attendees and millions of spectators each year. The forerunner of the American football may have been a game played by the ancient Greeks, called harp Aston. In this game there was no limit to the number of players. The goal was to move a ball on a goal line by kicking, throwing, or get started with it. Classic literature contains detailed accounts of the game, including the rougher elements, such as fierce.

Most modern versions of football, however, originated in England, where a form of the game in the 12th century was known. In later centuries was football so popular that several English monarchs, including Edward II and Henry VI, forbade the game because the importance of the military sports of archery took.

In 1920 the American Football Association founded; a year later it was reorganized and in 1922 was renamed the National Football League. fifty years after the start of the first pro football association, combined sixteen NFL teams with ten AFL teams consist of a League with two conferences.

NFL Football party supplies such as paper plates, napkins and cups are a fun way to finish a NFL football party theme. Party decorations using NFL Football party themes such as a football piñata can act as a centerpieces and can also double as party prices. Party favors such as NFL Football stickers, whistles, foam fingers, football shaped caps and helmets a NFL football party theme.

American Football-Western Influence in Samoan Culture

Americans love their sport. Baseball, football, basketball, hockey, professional and collegiate; the United States is a nation with citizens who love sports and athletes, professional sports are a multi-billion dollar company. Sometimes there are positive influences on other countries as a result of the dedication of people place on "America's pastime." The Dominican Republic, for example, is known for the production of a large number of good baseball players who often successful at even the highest level. One of the best known current examples would former Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa, who probably would otherwise be transported to a life of poverty and little hope, if not for his ability to play baseball at a professional level in the United States. Sport transform sometimes some of the most unlikely areas, increasing more than any other pastime, and actually being adopted as an accepted source of pride culture of a people. A good example of this is the influence that American football has had, and still have, on the small island of Samoa.
American Samoa has a population of under 65,000 people, but there are 28 Samoans currently on the roster of NFL teams, as well as many others, who constantly compete and on the verge of a team. If other Pacific Islanders, such as people from the islands of Tonga and Fiji, there are more than 50 Pacific Islanders in the NFL, or 2% of the total number of players, which is even more impressive given the competition from the United States, a nation of 350 million people. Many of these players are not simple no-namers. Mark Tuinei played for the Cowboys and has three Super Bowl rings, Dave Dixon is a pro bowler for the Vikings, as Luther Ellis for the Lions, and Junior Seau is considered one of the best linebackers in the history. Anyone who follows the NFL recognizes each one of these names. It's an interesting fact to note that a high school player from one of the islands of the Pacific more than 40 times more chances to make it to the NFL than a student of the rest of the United States. This is even more impressive in the light of how little good equipment the teams on American Samoa have compared with their counterparts from the Mainland. They play mostly on poor fields with the bare minimum of equipment. Not is the number of players that up from this great background, but more than 200 Samoans currently play Division I college football .
Why has this "American" sports so well done in the Pacific Islands? A reason may be that many young Samoans that football is not an American sports. Michael Mapu, a high school quarterback/defensive end which is a Division I prospect is quoted as saying: "I think it is Samoa of sport, not of America sports." Many of the Samoan youth growing up watching their older brothers play football, and then want to do the same. The possibility to go out and play full contact, to the affected people, is a big draw, and in some respects football has is referred to as the modern version of village warfare. American football was introduced in the 1960s, and was a quickly accepted part of Samoan culture.

The basic principles of sports betting-an introduction to football betting

Many people still wonder if it is possible to make money in sports betting and millions of mainly interested in betting on football. Football is a great phenomenon, particularly in the United States. Each year, the fans and the football fanatics start to prepare the football season months prior to the start of the season. The massive hype around football is primarily based on the pre-season predictions.

Frantically analyze teams is part of the ritual, and the sports fans, the athletes and the sports network covering all chime in to give their views. Who will do well this season? Who will this season tank? Who are the best players? These are among the many questions that people fanatical amount. It is almost impossible to imagine life without this incredible phenomenon become.

This massive hype around football leads to both legal and illegal sports betting. Football betting is huge. During the Super Bowl hours, $ 75 million in committed and gains made in Las Vegas alone. Betting on football is as much a part of football season as the Super Bowl itself. In fact, you will find mostly per Office pools, straight up bet, and other types of sports betting is created, even before the season starts.

So what exactly is involved in betting on football? Well, sports both College and professional football betting works according to point spread. What is a point spread? Well, this is a term used to describe the number of points that a stronger team could be expected that a weaker team beat. Betting on football is all about the point spread, with a team playing the favorite, and the other team play the underdog.

Football bettors make bets in by giving points when betting on Favorites, and by taking points when betting on the underdog. Is there a reason that American Football is not an Olympic sport?

Are you ever surprised that one of the biggest sports in one of the largest countries will not be shared with the rest of the world? You have to think that the Olympic Committee has received at least some request for addition of football. This article is intended to highlight some of the special reasons that it is not eligible for any future Olympic Games might. In the first place ,  it is mostly  an American Sports.
Second, they'd probably shut it down like baseball and softball. Thirdly, the shear volume of players as a small reason for the non-inclusion. Fourthly, there is no international sports organization for football
Football is an American Sports
That is one of the main reasons that football cannot be considered in the first place an American sports. American football isn't the only sport origin to this nation. Many sports such as baseball and basketball have extensive there reach to other countries. Football has never really extended past our continent. One reason may be due to the fact that football is a relatively newer sport. Although the exact date is unknown, we recommend that it began in the late 1800 's. much later than some of its sporty family members: rugby or even football.
They would shut it down like baseball and softball
Much to the disappointment of many American fans baseball and softball will not be a part of the 2012 London Games. One of the reasons is that the United States it so often that there really is no amount of competition that may come up against them. We can easily assume that if football was only in the Olympic games that the relativity theory would be impossible our talent in the sport to dethrone. See if there is no point in competing against the likes of the New York Giants of the Patriots in shear atheism, an indication that the same fate that has visited baseball and softball surely come to pass that on American football even after it was only in the Olympic Games.
An average football team has anywhere from 25 to 30 members. Twice as many people wouldn't be a big reason for the non-inclusion in the summer Olympics, but it currently only concern about getting the competition that is not from the United States to come and participate.
No international sport organization
By far the biggest reason that American football not joined the ranks of the Olympic Games to football is missing an international sport organization. One of the requirements of each sport prior to entering the Olympic Games is an international organisation established to govern the sport around the world.
The first reason, Given that football is an American sports, and that this sport not occur with other countries the imprisoned is not likely that any organisation in the near future are formed. Thus promoting the distance that American football would have on a trip to the games.

The violent sports-football, ice hockey or MMA?

So what's with all the rhetoric and discussion about MMA is a violent sport? Have one of these opponents ever saw a football game? Ice hockey? Rugby? Talk about violent sports! And these have already been approved and sanctioned!

Senator McCain and a lot of politicians on the bandwagon of anti-MMA, although sources close to senator McCain have me personally that he "comes around" and is willing to take a closer look at the sport. Well thank God for that, because what MMA was in 1995 is not what it is today.

A report from the Journal of sports Science and medicine, (JOSS & M) stated: "the incidence of damage in combat sports not enough reported already, it is important to the nature and frequency of injuries prior to the implementation of prevention programs."

In their study, they compared: "injury rates treated in hospital emergency services between different combat sports of boxing, wrestling and martial arts. A secondary objective described anatomical region and diagnosis of these injuries. Data were obtained on all boxing, wrestling and martial arts-related injuries that were in the national electronic Injury Surveillance System database and resulted in emergency department visits between 2002 and 2005. "

Their findings? "Martial arts had lower injury rates in comparison with boxing and wrestling for all diagnoses (p

Their recommendation? Stop fighting? Ban on MMA? Nope. In fact, presented the report "injury prevention efforts need to consider the distribution of lesions and concentrate on preventing strains/sprains in wrestling, concussion in boxing and wrestling and fractures for all three activities." So basically, as with any other sport, one must take good care and use preventive measures when training or competing. Okay-good to know.

Besides, I think that if an athlete is entering the ring to fight in an event of the mixed martial arts, we cannot assume that he's pretty much know what to expect and that he/she is physically fit and ready for the rigors of his sport? The JOSS & M report went on: "the findings of the present study offer no proof that combat sports alarmingly high rates of injuries resulting in emergency department visits."

Interesting. Hope Senator McCain read this report.

You can view the entire study here: injuries in Combat Sports. Then I'll talk about sports injuries in football and ice hockey. A little comparison. Should be interesting.

You picked 15 right out of 16 possible selections and you were so far down in the list that you felt hitting the delete button on the contest site. Yep that is normal for the more popular games such as ESPN and the most important sports publications that hundreds of thousands of participants each year. But don't panic, if you really look at the above situation, you're really in 2nd place and only 1 game is reflected in the first place. If the maximum picks available were 16, and you had 15, most of the leader might have is 16 allowing you the 2nd place.

There is little doubt that go against that many people will be the race closer to the opportunities of a lottery than a contest of skill. Some of these "free" games offer some very nice prizes, but the big cash prizes usually come from the contests that kind of cash deposits. Of course, now is your chance to win improved if the number of participants is drastically reduced, but then again these contests are usually those that draw from the very good sports handicappers, those who are serious players in the sport bets and disabilities. Personally I'd rather take my chances with fewer people and a little effort to research the schema and the winners.

There are two types of football Pick 'em contests, those that require you to only pick the winner of the game outright, then the type that are played "against the spread". Again, you can make a huge difference in the number of entries that you're up against and the chance of someone getting a "perfect" map on a specific Sunday its outermost. A very good football handicapper is hard pressed to win 60% of the games that he picks up against the spread. The spread is a number that is assigned to the weaker of the two teams to even the score in a manner of speaking for betting purposes. The books of the sport in Las Vegas would not exist if they allowed bettors to just to place bets on who will win the game. So they make a point to even want to spread out the bets on each team as much as possible.

To win an online contest of any kind is very difficult because of the number of people that you're playing against. But you can cut the risk by playing in the races that have a small fee and you can further cut through to play against the spread. Either way the aim is to get as many winners as possible and hope between you do your homework and a little (a lot of luck) you can get more winners than all others. Here are a few tips for choosing the winners in the no point contests:

You can decide which of the two teams is the better team by just looking at the point spread on one of the online books or sometimes in your local newspaper. USA Today posts also point spreads on all games. The team that the minus (-) before the number displayed is the favorite. Example: New England-7 over the New York Jets means that the oddsmakers believe the Patriots 7 points better than the New York Jets in this specific weeks game.

Once you determine who the Favorites, look for the all favorites with point spreads with 7 points or more and pack them automatically in your contest. These teams will only lose the game straight up about 20% of the time. You then want to search for those teams that play at home and get either 3 points or less, or his beneficiary. This should be automatic picks. Now the fun begins. every week there are 3 or 4 games that are not covered in these scenarios, and these are the games that usually make the difference between cashing in the money and stretch of the season as just having a whole lot of fun.

Finding those 3 or 4 teams to withdraw from the region will need to do some research. Reading news articles, injury reports, watching game situations, revision weather etc. .... of course, now we get into the hard core handicaps, and unless you are experienced and have the time, your best and have fun. There is a resource that can help such as sports betting services and consultants, but you certainly don't want to pay for services for an online contest unless you were getting close to the cashing in on a great victory, but then came you this far without them, why should now switch.

You would like to participate in the "Las Vegas Sports Handicappers workshop" that is free and with a panel of experts each week, you could get a big lead on some of the games for your contest, it's also a great resource for the serious sport bettor. The workshop is held every Wednesday at 9 pm Eastern 6 pm Pacific. It's a free conference room with live chat and audio. When betting on football, players have many different types of bets available. The most common method of betting against the point spread. The point spread is determined by odds makers to ensure that both teams have the same amount of the bets.

Here is an example of a point spread:

Miami Dolphins + 7.5-110

New York Jets emission-110

The team that a plus point for disseminating number is usually considered to be the underdog. The underdog Gets the point displayed in the odds added to their final score. As such, if the match ended with the following score Miami 10 New York 14, the score on the bet would Miami 17.5 New York 14 and a dedication to Miami to cover would result in a win.

The-110 determines the amount that a player risk to win $ 100, as such, would win $ 10 on this contest while betting on the Miami Dolphins a player would need to wager $ 11. The remaining $ 1 to the sports book operator paid for his services.

A substitute to point spread betting is money line betting. money line betting eliminates the point spread of the commitment and instead uses direct odds to determine the price of each bet. The winner on a money line bet is determined by the final score without changes. As such, use the above example again but this time with money line numbers:

Miami Dolphins + 250

New York Giants-330

In this case with odds can be explained this way: a player would need to bet $ 100 and the Miami Dolphins to win a payout of $ 250. To win $ 100 on the New York Jets the player would need to wager $ 330

There are many other types of football betting options such as totals, parlays, proposition bets and futures, but the point spread and money line are most popular. Learn how to Bet on football

Football season is high season for gamblers and Vegas right. With so many college games and of course the NFL is almost always a game to bet on from September to January.

Since Sportsbooks appetite to bet on football recognize, there is no shortage of ways to bet on football.

The colon bets
Bet on the point spread is by far the most popular way to bet on football.

The point spread is a number that the odds-makers come up with in order to level the playing field of the two opposing teams. In short, the favorite team will be watching the underdog a certain amount of points. To bet on the favorite to win their bet, the favorite wins the game over the point spread. If your favorite game with fewer points than the point spread WINS or loses the game at all, would be used on the underdog win their commitment.

Here is an example of how to bet the point spread on a soccer game. Let's say that the Colts are seven point Favorites versus the 49ers. If you are the Colts (-7) they would have to win the game by at least eight points in order for your bet is a winner is supported. Conversely, if you bet on the 49ers (+ 7), the 49ers should lose the game with no more than six points to win the bet. The 49ers beat the Colts ended outright, the 49ers (+ 7) commitment also as a winner. Finally, the Colts won the contest by exactly seven points, the commitment would be considered a "push" If you be refunded your bet, or ' not activated and ' would have.

Total betting

Also known as the over/under, is the ' total ' a predicted of combined points between two opposing football teams. You have the option to either betting of the ' about ' or the ' under '. If you bet on the ' about ', the two teams combine for more points than the indicated ' total ' for the bet to win. If you ' under ' support, can combine the two teams not to score more points than the indicated ' total ' in order to be in cash.

For example, has a sports book the ' total ' for the Colts vs. Steelers game at 38. If the two teams for 39 or more points combine, ' ' bets will win while ' ' under bets would lose. However, if they combined for less than 39 points, "under" bets would win ' while ' bets would lose. If the last combined total points fell to just 38 points, would ' about ' and ' ' under bets will be classified as a "push" resulting in betting is not activated and '.

The Money Line betting odds
A third popular option for betting on football is the money line. When the bet on the line of the money that you bet on a team to win the game outright, the final score doesn't matter.

Although this concept is so simple when it comes, insight into the opportunities associated with money line bets are much different than the point spread. The favorite team will have a minus sign (-) in front of a three-digit number while the underdog will usually have a plus (+) sign for a three-digit number.

Here is an example of how to bet on a football money line. The dolphins are displayed as the-160 favorite versus the jets to + 130 are listed. If you're going to back the favorite dolphins, would you $ 100 for every $ 160 deployed as long as the dolphins win win. On the other hand, if you saw value in the underdog jets, would win $ 130 for every $ 100 that you deployed as long as they win the game outright.

Parlays and teasers

There are lots of other ways to bet on football, including parlays and teasers.

Parlays-an attractive bet type for gamblers looking to make a larger profit of a small or medium sized bet, parlays are always a popular bet during the football season.

A parlay is a single bet in which numerous games or selections. All of the selections have to win to the parlay to be classified as a winner. Because all of the selections have to win, the payouts are becoming more generous as more selections are added.

For example, let's say that you have a $ 100 parlay on the Chargers-7 with the Patriots-3. If both of the games coverage in your favor, you would win $ 260, given that the normal payout for a two-team parlay is 13: 5.

As I said, the higher the number of teams in the parlay, the size of the payouts. A ten-team parlay, for example, pays around 700: 1 depending on the sportsbook. So could you for a $ 2 dollars, $ 1400 win when all 10 selections covered.

Teasers-another word you hear every week by those who on football betting is "teaser"

Teaser bets are a single bet which you select at least two games and are allowed to change the distribution or total in your favor by a certain amount of points.

For example, suppose you want to do a point 6 teaser with the Raiders + 10 points and the Bengals-3 points. By teasing each game by 6 points, you have now the Raiders subnormal points and the Bengals on + 3 points. Since this is considered a single bet, you must have both of these bullied spreads relate in order for you to win the bet.

Depending on the sports book, teasers are generally allowed for 6, 6, or 7 points for football. Moreover, they often allow anywhere from two team teasers up to 15 team teasers at all; again, depending on the book of the sport.

There you go sports fans, now you know the basics on how to bet on football.

Washington Redskins-the five best NFL teams in the history of football

While a lot of people dispute can and debate the five best NFL teams in the history of football as mentioned here, everyone will agree that these were great teams that earn the honour and brace one way or another.

1985 Chicago Bears

1985 Chicago Bears was a phenomenal team consisting of a non-matching group with energy materials and exciting and interesting personalities. They were great and they knew it, record from their Championship video, "The Super Bowl Shuffle" even before the playoffs started. Led by the Mohawk-wearing quarterback Jim "Punky QB" McMahon and impermeable running and defence line, head of them William "the refrigerator" Perry, Super Bowl MVP defensive end Richard Dent, and NFL Defensive Player of the year Mike ary Singlet, the bears ended the season with a 15-1 record and a total of 456 to 198 points scored. During the playoffs, she won 21-0 against the Giants and 24-0 against the Rams for the NFC title. She won the Super Bowl, scoring 46-10 on the Patriots.

1972 Miami Dolphins

The 1972 Miami Dolphins NFL team is the only one that ever a "perfect season" with a season record of 17-0. This is also the reason why they are considered the greatest NFL team of all time, in particular by the documentary America's Game: the Super Bowl Champions, produced by the NFL Network. Their undefeated team was led by coach Don Shula and football greats such as Earl Morrall, Bob Griese and Larry Csonka. They won all three playoff games and finally, the Super Bowl VII against the Redskins. Some would argue, however, that the ' 72 dolphins had the advantage of playing one of the easiest schemas in the history of the modern NFL, and this as equally corresponds to the ' 85 Bears, they were not a contender.

1962 Green Bay Packers

A dream team consisting of a list of Football Hall of famers including Paul Hornung, Max McGee, Jim Taylor, Boyd Dowler and Vince Lombardi, the Green Bay Packers 1962 instituted a 13-1 record earning them a first place in the Western Conference. In the NFL Championship Game they won 16-7 against the New York Giants, marking the Packers 8 NFL Championship.

The Washington Redskins 1991 topped the NFL in two important statistics: yards gained per pass and yards allowed per pass, with star player Mark Rypien, on average, up to 8.5 meters per attempt, obtaining a total of 1340 yards on 70 receptions. The additional contributions from the Redskins Ricky Ervins and Earnest Byner with a combined 1,708 metres make their stats legendary even with a tough schedule could they their opponents 485-224 beat.

1999 St. Louis Rams

One of the most exciting personalities in the year 1999 was barely known night-shift grocery-operated and St. Louis Rams ' star quarterback Kurt Warner, who led the Rams to a 13-3 record in the regular season. He was both NFL MVP and Super Bowl MVP. The Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans in the Super Bowl XXXIV with a score of 23-16, and claimed that their 1st NFL World Championship since 1951.
